What is the Executive Function Lab?
The Executive Function Lab is an interactive 8-week group designed to help middle and high school students better understand how their brains manage starting, remembering, time, planning, organization, flexibility, and attention.
This is not eight weeks of lectures about planners and organization. Students participate in hands-on experiments, test different strategies, and build practical systems they can use at school and at home.
An ADHD diagnosis is not required to participate.
What We Work On
Starting Tasks
Getting from “I know I need to do it” to actually beginning.
Working Memory
Keeping track of information without expecting the brain to store everything.
Time Awareness
Estimating time, noticing hidden time, and building realistic routines.
Planning & Organization
Turning a big task into a workable route.
Flexibility
Adjusting when plans change without throwing away the whole plan.
Focus & Distraction
Building ways to return when attention gets pulled away.
Individual Systems
Figuring out what actually works for each student.
How the Lab Works:
8 weekly sessions
75 minutes each
Small group — maximum 6 students
Middle and high school students
Parent + student Pre-Lab Executive Function Profile
Individual Pre-Lab meeting with the student
Student Lab Book
Weekly real-life experiments
Personal Executive Function Operating System at completion
Virtual Lab — Florida & Tennessee
Students participate live through secure telehealth from home. The virtual Lab is still hands-on: students build, sort, time, experiment, change their environment, and test strategies using simple materials they already have at home.
Virtual participation is available to eligible students located in Florida or Tennessee at the time of service.
In-Person Lab
In-person cohorts are offered locally as scheduled. Space is limited to six students per cohort.
Cost & Payment Options
Self-pay participation is available and does not require an ADHD diagnosis.
Insurance may be available for students participating through a clinically appropriate group-therapy pathway when diagnostic, medical-necessity, network, and plan-benefit requirements are met.
Eligible Florida families may also have access to Step Up For Students funding, depending on scholarship eligibility and covered services.
